HTML 5 vs. Flash
Having a background in mainframe programming, I can understand the reason for improving HTML and increasing the standards for creating a larger cross-section of platforms. After reading all of the articles pertaining to Flash vs. HTML 5, I can see all sides of the opinions. Steve Jobs made some very valid points but also made some, what I felt, were some contradicting statements about proprietary products. Parts of the rebuttals I feel were more about the dislike of Steve Jobs and Apple than about improving HTML and standards. Being a novice in learning HTML, I think anytime you can make things better and more standardized you are moving in the right direction. With the improvements in HTML 5, CSS, and JavaScript, this will give designers more power in the design and not solely relying on Flash, which has been in use for several years, for watching videos and gaming. The newer technology of touch, which it seems the Flash currently doesn’t support. I think that with Jobs making his statement in April on this subject, he is pushing for an improved HTLM 5 and better web standards for all.

first blog
I expect to be able to write html code and use CSS to design page layouts for my own business and be able to use in the workplace I want to be able to design a website that people will be able to look at my design work and show some photography that I have done. Websites that I like are Stone Cliff Winery because of variety of ways to navigate, bookingbuddy because of how it links different travel websites to be able to compare prices, and nascar also because of navigation of the website and the links that they have.
